How to Use a NARCAN Kit: Step-by-Step

  1. Shout and shake the person to check for a response.
  2. Call 911 immediately if they’re unresponsive.
  3. Administer one spray into a single nostril.
  4. Turn the person on their side and perform rescue breathing or chest compressions if trained to do so.
  5. Give a second dose in the other nostril if there’s no improvement within 2–3 minutes.
