That is what makes it such a persistent problem. There is no single moment where somebody decides the workplace no longer needs bandages. There are just a few dozen small moments across a year, each one perfectly reasonable, and at the end of them the box on the wall is close to useless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It starts with a paper cut and someone taking two bandages. Then a burn in the kitchen and a burn dressing gone. A nosebleed, a scrape, a splinter, a headache. None of it gets written down, because none of it seems worth writing down. And then one day something happens that actually matters, someone runs for the kit, and finds an empty first aid kit with a pair of scissors and a triangular bandage rattling around inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First Aid Canada hears that story often enough to consider it the default outcome rather than the exception. A quiet office kit can often go quarterly. The frequency matters less than the fact that it happens on a schedule rather than when someone remembers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bigger decision is ownership. Inspections fail when they belong to a role rather than a person, because roles do not notice things. Naming one person, and giving them the authority to reorder supplies without a three step approval, removes almost every reason an inspection gets skipped. It also helps to attach the check to something already on the calendar, such as the start of a month, a shift handover, or an existing walkthrough, so it never depends on motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other half of that is recording use as it happens. An accident record book kept with the kit means the person who takes the last burn dressing leaves a trace, and the next inspection knows what to reorder. It also gives the business a record of what is actually happening on site, which is useful well beyond restocking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Restocking is the easy part, once you know what is missing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once an inspection has produced a list, refilling is straightforward. Individual supplies can be reordered on their own, which is usually cheaper and faster than replacing an entire kit for the sake of a few items.
